“joy of a child” playfully explores the uneventful daily lives of many children with working parents. When adventures are experienced primarily on television and one’s own pets become one’s closest confidants. The sculpture consists of 4 movable parts: the child’s body, with a living room painted on the inside, a television, and 2 small guinea pigs. By inviting people to playfully rearrange the art object, it points to the curiosity of children, which must be preserved & nurtured.

PRODUCTION: From clay to art.
Crafted with great love by hand, the 4-piece sculpture was formed from light-colored clay, painted with underglaze, fired, glazed, and finally fired again as stoneware. Small irregularities in shape and glaze are a testament to the loving manual work and are characteristic of my artistic style. Perfectly imperfect!
