it's me, moniy!

I am Monika Manhart, aka moniy. I live and work in Berlin. I love faces, stories, and quirky ideas. My heart beats for everything absurd, imperfect, and colorful. After experimenting artistically with many materials since childhood, I came to ceramics in early 2022 and haven't been able to put the lump of clay down since.

My life is characterized by a permanent sense of wonder and amusement at what surrounds me. I am fascinated by the small, inconspicuous moments of everyday life. Through simplification and humor, I give these banal facets of our existence a face. In doing so, my artistic work explores strange characters, pressing thoughts, and funny animals. And cats, of course.

My work is figurative, often combined with functionality. I work intuitively and follow a DIY ethos. The joy of the work and the result is both my motivation and my reward. Organic dents, visible brushstrokes, or small cracks underscore the approachability of my figures. They are as imperfect, strange, and wonderful as the world they reflect.
